These terms cover the pdf-iq website and the PDFiq Android app. Using either means you accept them.
The short version
- The seven web tools are free, with no account and no usage limit, for personal and commercial work alike — what we provide.
- Your files stay yours and never reach us, which also means we cannot recover a result you did not save — your files.
- Pro is a single payment of $14.99, not a subscription, with nothing to renew or cancel — buying Pro.
- Our liability is capped at what you have paid us, which for the free tools is nothing — liability.
Four sentences cannot replace the terms below, and they are not meant to. They are the answers to what people arrive asking; each one links to the clause that governs.
What we provide
Tools that edit PDF files on your own device. The seven web tools are free to use, with no account and no usage limit, for personal and commercial work alike. We intend to keep them that way.
Your files, your responsibility
You keep all rights in the files you process, and you are responsible for having the right to process them. Because the work happens locally, we never receive them and cannot recover a result you did not save. Keep your original until you have checked the output.
Fair use of the service
Do not use the tools to break the law, to strip protection from documents you have no right to open, or to attack the site. You may not resell the hosted tools as your own service; you may of course use the output commercially.
Buying Pro
Pro is sold on this website. It is a single payment of $14.99 in US dollars — not a subscription, and there is nothing to renew or cancel. That is the total: any VAT, GST or sales tax due is included in it rather than added at the checkout. It covers Pro in the web tools on this site. It does not unlock anything in the Android app.
It is sold through Paddle, who act as the merchant of record and handle payment and any tax due. Our refund policy applies. Buying happens on this website rather than inside the Android app. Nothing that is free today moves behind Pro.
Pro belongs to your account. Buying needs a Google account, and the purchase is recorded against it. Sign in with the same account in any browser and Pro is there. Signing out removes Pro from that browser only.
The purchase record outlives your account. Deleting your pdf-iq account does not end Pro: the record of the purchase is kept, so signing in again with the same Google account restores it. You can ask us to delete that record instead, and we will — that ends Pro on every device you use it on, and it is not a refund.
No warranty
The tools are provided as they are. PDF files vary enormously and some are damaged or unusual; a tool may fail on one, and we try to tell you clearly and specifically when it does. We do not warrant that output will suit a particular purpose, and you should verify important documents before relying on them.
Liability
$0
What our liability is capped at if you use the free tools — because it is capped at what you have paid us, and the free tools are free. If you bought Pro it is $14.99.
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected with the tools is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months, which for the free tools is nothing. We do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
